Evidence of Faith

The very first step towards faith is to accept that there is a God. There are many claims on who God is, but which claim is the truth about God? Is Buddha, Allah, all of creation, man, the God of the Bible, or someone else God? Can all of these be the same God? The truth is, when you take the description of each, you will find that they are incredibly different. As can be seen in Josh McDowell’s book, A Ready Defense, the Bible proves to be the trustworthiest of all the books claiming truth. It would only be logical to conclude that the God of the Bible is the true God.

In accepting the God of the Bible, it would only be reasonable to accept the Bible. In accepting the Bible, we have to ask ourselves, “What do we do with Jesus?” The Bible commands us to believe in Jesus Christ and to make Him our Lord in order to be saved. “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already” (John 3:18). “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Faith is the simple beginning step to becoming a mature Christian. Faith is an important step, but it still may leave you with lingering questions. How do we know that there is a God that created the world and that He wants to know us and give us eternal life? How do we know that the Bible is true? Becoming a follower of Christ takes faith, but there is a lot of evidence God has left us. We need to live by faith, but we do not have to be ignorant. In the next couple of lessons, we will discuss some evidence and resources to find out more.
